A MESSAGE FROM DR. SIDLE

Good Morning Northeastern!

As you know, on March 30, 2020, Governor Wolf shared that all Pennsylvania schools would be closed indefinitely. He also extended the "Stay At Home" order through April 30, 2020. While we do not know how long our buildings will be closed, we are excited to be back in the "business" of school! We are very proud of our teachers, staff, and administrators as they have been hard at work providing a quality instructional program for our Bobcats during this closure.

Although we are only a few days in, I want to thank everyone for their flexibility and optimism. This is new for all of us and we are all trying to find balance in our new normal. We realize it is not perfect, we know that there are still questions that we do not have answers for, and we understand our students, families, and teachers are all juggling increased responsibilities and figuring out efficient routines and schedules. It is a work in progress, but we will get there! When frustrations happen (and they will) - take a deep breath and know that we are all in this together and we all want the same thing - children who are learning and growing academically, while also feeling safe, healthy, nurtured, and cared about. Our new normal, while full of many challenges, does provide additional time and flexibility - let's promise each other that we will find ways to take advantage of it and not allow the stress to take over. There will be highs and lows, frustrations and successes, and many opportunities to improve - our attitudes will determine our focus and will allow us to serve as positive role models for our students. Let's do this!

Additional Information:

  • Our school counselors continue to be available for our students and families. Please see their communication with contact information, available services, and resources for parents here: Family Update from Guidance.pdf .
  • School closures across the country have caused a sudden increase of students learning from home and the demands on education technology have shifted significantly. We are aware of the issues some of our students have experienced with Schoology and are monitoring the situation closely.  We know the Schoology team is committed to resolving the issue and are expecting to see improvements soon.  Teachers are also aware and will be flexible regarding due dates and submission requirements until these issues are resolved. Thank you for your patience.
  • Having problems with your Chromebook? Please review the troubleshooting tips or complete the Google Form for tech support HERE.
  • Reminder - Free breakfast/lunch is provided for all students, Monday - Friday, 10:00 - 11:30, at York Haven Elementary and Orendorf Elementary. K-6 students who participate in the Weekend Backpack program, and have not yet gotten their bag, can pick up their items today, Thursday, April 2, during lunch distribution at either location.

Thank you again for your partnership and for the many positive messages we have received. We are appreciative of the support and will continue to do our best to meet the needs of our Bobcats! In addition to our work with students, our goal is to also provide transparent and timely information for our families - as always, please reach out with any additional questions by contacting your building principal or emailing contactus@nebobcats.org. so we can address your concerns in the future.

Stay safe and healthy!

Dr. Stacey Sidle

Superintendent
