Jeffrey Plummer8th grade Orange TeamMathematics TeacherContact InformationEmail: plummerj@nebobcats.orgPhone: 717-266-3676, Ext 61302Hello everyone, my name is Jeff Plummer and I am the math teacher on the Orange Team.
A little bit about myself: I grew up in Wernersville, PA which is about 20 minutes outside of Reading. I went to Wilson High School in West Lawn, PA and graduated in 2007. I then went to Albright College in Reading, PA and earned my Bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a certification to teach 7-12 math. Last year I also graduated from Shippensburg University with my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Principal’s certification.
The summer after I graduated, I scoured Pennsylvania for math teaching jobs and I stumbled upon Northeastern Middle School. I came in for the interview and thought the school was fantastic. Luckily enough, Mr. Alessandroni offered me a job at NMS the next day. I was on the Yellow Team in 7th grade for my first 5 years at the middle school and this year is my first year on the orange team. I am a HUGE sports fan, specifically I am a fan of the Phillies, 49ers, 76ers, and UNC Tar Heel basketball team. In my time at Northeastern I also was an assistant coach for the middle school football team, the middle school girls’ basketball team, and the high school track and field team.
In September 2015 I married my lovely wife, Katie. She just graduated from medical school and is now officially Dr. Plummer. We also just moved into a new house so life has been quite exciting for the two of us.
I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was in 10th grade. I was the “go-to guy” when someone needed help in math and I ended up tutoring a number of friends and helping classmates daily. I just loved the feeling of helping someone else understand something that previously gave them trouble. To this day, there are few things that make me happier when a student has that “AH HA” moment where it finally clicks and they understand. I strive to develop relationships with my students so that they understand that we are part of a team in the classroom. I cannot be successful without them and they would struggle to learn the math without me. Every day is unique in the middle school and I love coming to work and interacting with the students. My drive is to help students reach their absolute best ability and I want the students to really enjoy math. I know that math may not be everyone’s favorite subject when they leave my room at the end of the year, but I can dream can’t I? I got into teaching to make an impact on these students’ lives and that goal continues to drive me every day.
I am excited to be a part of the NMS team and to have another successful school year!
