Hello my name is Mike Graham and I will be teaching your student physical science. I have always wanted to be a teacher. My mother was an elementary school teacher for 35 years so this career was a natural fit. I graduated from Girard High School in 2000 and attended Edinboro University of Pa, and graduated with a B.S. in 2005. In 2010 I earned a masters of education from Gratz College.

I grew up in a small town in Erie county called Girard and have taught for the School District of the City of Erie, and Chesterfield County Public School in Va.I have also been a percussion marching band instructor for Girard High School, and our very own Northeaster Middle School.  I have had the honor of being a People to People travel leader, and have guided student tours through: England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Italy, and France.

Personally I enjoy: car restoration, camping, traveling, skiing and playing with my son Miles.

This year your student will learn physical science. They will learn concepts such as:

    Answering scientific questions

    Classifying matter

    Energy

    Physical and chemical properties

    Systems
    Atomic structure

    Force

    Acceleration

    Work

    Simple machines

    And power

Your student will also learn about lab safety and review concepts about biology and earth and space science. Most homework assignments will be through the Study Island website. If your student earns 25 blue ribbons by PSSA time they will get a 100% on my final!

My personal belief for student success is simple, always ask questions and never be afraid to make mistakes.

Let’s have a great year, and remember always bet on yourself, you are the best bet you have.
