•      The Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) is a seriesstandards based assessments used to measure a student's academic progress whilealso determining the degree to which school programs enable students to attainproficiency of the standards. Every Pennsylvaniastudent in grades 3 through 8 and grade 11 is assessed in readingand math.  Every Pennsylvaniastudent in grades 5, 8 and 11 is assessed in writing while students ingrades 4, 8, and 11 are assessed in science. 

         Individual student scores are distributed to parents after the PennsylvanianDepartment of Education makes them available to the Northeastern School District usually near the beginning of thefollowing school year.  The Northeastern School District uses the scores to assistteachers in identifying students who may be in need of additional educationalopportunities.  School and district scoresprovide information that is used for curriculum and instruction improvementdiscussions and planning.
