Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Dana Godfrey

I love being a Bobcat and have had the pleasure of working with Northeastern Middle School students since 2009.  I have a passion for people and for helping others, especially during the challenges of adolescence.  My goal is for students to feel comfortable seeking education, support, and guidance with academic, social, and personal needs during their experience at Northeastern Middle School. Students and parents, you are never alone!  I believe in building character, and spreading kindness and compassion. I am the Coordinator of the Rachel's Challenge program and Friends of Rachel Club at NMS.

A little more about me!  I was born in Pennsylvania and lived in Delaware and Lancaster County as a child. I graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School.  I went west for college and attended San Diego State University and the University of California, Santa Barbara where I received a Bachelor Degree in Psychology.  I also attended graduate school in San Diego, California where I received a Master Degree in Marriage, Family and Child Therapy (MFT) from the University of San Diego.  I spent several years training as a therapist, focusing on behavior, art, and play therapy while working on MFT licensure. During this time I found a passion for working with children as a grief therapist at Sharp Healthcare and Hospice.  I decided to pursue a certification for counseling in schools, and studied for one more year at University of San Diego where I received a K-12 Pupil Personnel Services certification. I worked in Colton, California for Colton Joint Unified School District as a high school and middle school counselor before coming to NESD.

As our students spend time exploring careers in middle school, one of the most important things we hope they discover is the importance of  “Do what you love, love what you do!” I feel truly blessed to have a career I enjoy to the fullest each and every day.
