CAREER INFORMATIONVirtual Job Shadow - This year, the School Counseling Department has acquired a new Career and Post-Secondary online planning program called Virtual Job Shadow. It has hundreds of interesting career videos as well as an interest inventory and a search tool for post-secondary schools. There are many other resources and tools available, too (like a resume-builder, job search, etc). Students login with their school Google email address and password. Go to Virtual Job Shadow to explore!
The O*NET program is the nation's primary source of occupational information. Central to the project is the O*NET database, containing information on hundreds of standardized and occupation-specific descriptors. The database, which is available to the public at no cost, is continually updated by surveying a broad range of workers from each occupation. Information from this database forms the heart of O*NET OnLine, an interactive application for exploring and searching occupations. The database also provides the basis for our Career Exploration Tools, a set of valuable assessment instruments for workers and students looking to find or change careers.Occupational Outlook Handbook http://www.bls.gov/OCO/Dr. Bierker has a Career Personality Test based on the Holland Codes that can then be searched here to apply to careers:How interests related to career areas (from O*NET)
