Northeastern School District's Title I Program


NortheasternSchool District operates a federally funded reading program, Title I, which is designedto provide help and support in reading to children in grades one through six.Children are selected for this program through academic assessments, portfoliowritings evaluations, classroom grades, parent and teacher surveys, andclassroom teacher referrals. Students who do not meet proficiency standards inreading are recommended for this program.

Certifiedreading specialists provide supplemental reading  instruction tostudents that qualify for the program. In some instances, children are pulledout from their regular classrooms for instruction. In other cases, theinstruction is provided within the regular classroom, in a co-teachingsituation.  Students will continue to receive consistentindividualized reading  instruction from their classroom teacher.
